Most of us know that smoking, being overweight and having high blood pressure are all risk factors for heart disease. But did you know that having a family history of heart disease, women over age 55 and women who've had a hysterectomy or gone through menopause are at an increased risk?
I knew about the family history, but had no idea that age and "women's" issues could contribute to heart disease as well.
Even poorly managed stress can contribute to heart disease.

what I do to maintain a healthy heart is to eat a diet very low in cholesterol and fat! Heart disease concerns me greatly as I have lost my dad and several siblings due to heart trouble from age 5 to age 50!
Have a positive attitude about life.

Eat good fish once a week, eat a mostly vegetarian diet, keep a smile on my face, giggle often, kiss my husband regularly and eat granola, oatmeal and Cheerios, of course!!!
oh, and i walk my dog at a quick pace and try to get down on the mat for yoga or meditation every once in awhile.
I watch what I eat, how much I eat and try to exercise 5 times a week!

We have cut almost all saturated fats from our diet. Hubby's had one heart surgery to open an artery and insert a stent. One is enough!

I make sure that I watch that I have a folic acid tablet and the required vitamin b substances which help sustain a woman's heart. I try to get in exercise each day.

I'm trying to lose weight because my grandmother had a heart attack at the same age I am now! Less weight would mean less stress on my heart!

What I do to help maintain a healthy heart is alot of walking such as walking to check our mail (our driveway is about 1/4 mile long) and chasing my son alot outside. I also quite smoking over 2 years ago which is the most important in keeping a healthy heart :o)

I have set a goal of 10,000 steps a day. I have broken 9000 but just can't get the 10K.
