Dot Girl - Review & Giveaway - CLOSED
THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. A WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON. THANKS!
Ok ladies...Do you all remember when your Mom (Dad, Grandma, whoever...) had that first talk with you about 'that time of the month', 'Aunt Flo coming to visit'?
How about the uber creepy 'birds and the bees' talk? *shudder*
I remember. And I remember I had a lot of questions that I was too embarrassed to ask afterward. Yeah I understood the basics of it all...but that's a lot of info to take in!
My daughter is 12-years old. We've had both talks already. We've attended the school 'maturation' programs. She's asked a few questions but not many.
I recently discovered Dot Girl and contacted them myself for a review. I had my daughter in mind when I requested this review. I was sent the Dot Girl's First Period Kit™.
When my daughter opened up this kit the other day she seemed a little embarrassed at first...then I kicked her brother out of the room. Doh!
But it did help to open the door for a few more questions and she was excited to go through the kit. She even asked why you would need a calendar for your period. Ha ha.
The Dot Girl's First Period Kit™ includes the following items:
* The Dot Girl's First Period Guide™, a 12-page booklet with answers to common questions
* The Dot Girl's Period Calendar™, a simple way for a girl to track her periods
* One Ultra Thin Kotex® Pad With Wings upgraded item
* Two Kotex® Lightdays® Panty Liners upgraded item
* Kotex® product brochure (product claims only valid within the U.S.) new item
* One store coupon for FREE Kotex® products -a $4.90 value (valid only within the U.S.) new item
* Reusable Dot Girl™ Warm Pad, a heating pad handy for soothing cramps upgraded item
* Scensibles™ Petite Pak (3 disposal bags inside) new item
* Hand Wipes
It all comes in the cute little bag and sells for $23.99 on the Dot Girl's website. And one dollar from the sale of every period kit will be donated to the Central Asia Institute whose mission it is to build schools, especially for girls, in remote regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Nice!
Dot Girl's has generously offered one of my readers their choice of the book Let's Talk About S-E-X or Period. A Girl's Guide.

Oh how awesome they have this! My niece is 14 and just started having her period and she is so awkward about it. I know the Period. A Girls Guide would be perfect for her. Following you from MBC and Twitter...posted a Tweet from @KariewithaK. Happy Monday!
Ha. I have an eight year old dauther, nuff said?
LOL. I can use any help in this area to make sure that she understands as much as she possibly can.

My daughter is 11 years old. She seems relatively comfortable talking about puberty and all that comes with it but she is still not sure about sex. I have always tried to make sure she knows that I am here for ANY and ALL questions but know that sometimes girls need to have a safe resource to review. This is why I purchased my daughter the Care and Keeping of you and it seemed to help in the beginning when my daughter was embarrassed to discuss the changes within her. She became more comfortable and now we talk about things as they come up. I think either book would be helpful but would prefer the book on SEX.

I think this is such a great giveaway. It's so hard for parents to talk to their children about these subjects - but most of us wish our parents had been more open and up front on the topic. I hope that I'll be brave enough to do that with my own! I would pick the Let's Talk about Sex book :)
Thanks for the opportunity!

I have 2 daughters aged 11 & 13, neither of which has yet started menstruation. We've already had the "talks" but I think that the Dot Girl program is a great visual tool that would allow the girls to become more familiar with the different products and questions that they might have (hey, I never claimed to know everything). I would choose The Girls Guide to Periods.
I am a subsciber, too!

I would like to win this for my daughter. Either book would be great. She's 13 and at an age where she's curious about S.E.X., but still not comfortable asking a lot of questions. She started her period about a year ago, but could use some additional resources there as well, I'm sure. We've talked about both subjects, but like me at that age, I think she'd rather not know than discuss any of it in detail with 'mom'. As sad as that is for me some days.
Following you on blogger.

I would like the period book for my 9 year old daughter - she has been asking questions about this lately...
I follow in blogger
I would choose the Period book, for my niece.
clarkmurdock@yahoo.com
I have a neice who I wish would spend more time with me, her mother "forgot" about the maturation night and sent her to it with a friend. For something as important as this, Mom must be involved, so I would get the period book for her, if only to get her to feel comfortable on asking me questions.

The S-E-X book: for my cousin's children

I'd give the period stuff to my niece and keep the sex book for myself when my daughter is older.
