Dance Flick Review

I wanted to see this movie soooooo bad from the time I started seeing previews for it months ago.

If you don't like spoof type movies then you won't like this one. Me, I love them. I will happily pay $8.50 a ticket to go sit in a theater for two hours and watch the Wayans brothers make fun of other movies. Name the time and place and I'll be there.

So, Dance Flick is a spoof of several movies where dancing was the theme and some not so much. The main story is based on the movie Save The Last Dance but also features scenes/characters from Hairspray, Little Miss Sunshine and I guess Step Up (is that what it's called? I've never seen it so I don't know) and even a little Twilight tossed in there.

Speaking of my daughter...she really wanted to see this movie too. She's 12, it's rated PG-13. I've seen all of the other Wayans brothers movies and yeah they contains some crude humor and what not. This one is no different (like I expected it to be...) and there were a few things that my daughter did not understand. And probably better off not knowing. LOL

Overall I thought it was funny. It's always fun to see these movies and try to figure out what movie their making fun of. The humor is ridiculously stupid. But it is the kind of humor you EXPECT from the Wayans brothers. I didn't love it...but I'd watch it again. And again. Because I'm dumb like that.

If you've seen the preview on tv you may have noticed (or not) that they play the song "Low" by Flo-Rida in the background. That song is not in the movie.

My BFF and I love that song...reminds us of a drunken casino trip where I fell in love with an ugly keyboard player (
my only defense...I was drunk) in some cheesy casino band. They played that song because I requested it as a joke...so it's now "our song" and we both have it as ring tones on our phones.

So we were slightly disappointed that the song wasn't in the movie. LOL
