Green Wash Ball Giveaway - CLOSED

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. A WINNER WILL BE DRAWN SOON. THANKS!

You all know I am a laundry hater. Like, seriously hate anything laundry related. I've been lucky enough to review several laundry products over the last couple weeks but this one is by far the most unique product I've tried.

And what would a Mother's Day event be without something laundry related...I mean, Mom's do the laundry right (avoids the eye-daggers coming from my Daddy readers).

The Green Wash Ball is an eco-friendly way to do laundry. One Green Wash Ball lasts for over 1,000 washes.

The Green Wash Ball is not only eco-friendly and re-usable but it's anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic, detergent and chemical free. So how does it get your clothes clean, you ask?

And what did I think?

I admit, I was a little skeptical. I hate doing laundry but I'm a sucker for a good smelling detergent, softener or dryer sheet. So eliminating all of them seemed odd to me at first.

I tossed in the ball and let it do it's work. The first couple times I used it I didn't use any detergents, softeners or dryer sheets. My clothes came out of the dryer smelling clean and fresh, with no chemical or detergent smell to them. Just clean. But out of the dryer...static. (I don't have the dryer balls, just the washing machine ball).

So the next time I used the ball I didn't add detergent or softener but I tossed in a dryer sheet. No more static and clean clothes. I need to invest in the dryer balls so I can really get the full effect of this product.

I like that there is no mess. No more measuring liquids. My 12 year old, who does her own laundry, can easily use this and never have to worry about adding too much of anything.

The part I love the most...I'm saving $$$

  • Lasts for 1,000 washes
  • Only 3 cents per wash
  • Wash without detergent
  • Save around $400 over 3 years!

I'll tell you why I'd like to have this product -- because hauling an enormous bottle of detergant up and down from the community washroom is a PITA. Can't leave it down there, or it'll get stolen. Small, light things that keep my laundry clean = win.

I learned that there are only high quality ceramics inside the GreenWashBall. No chemicals or detergent.

I'd love to not have to buy detergent for a year! Thanks for sharing~

I love the fact that it doesn't need detergent, and let's face it, detergent is expensive and the economy is horrible, so anything that will save me money and still keep my clothes clean is a blessing!

    heatherzilla May 27, 2009 10:40 AM

I leaned that "Regular detergent costs over 40 cents per wash. GreenWashBall is only 3 cents per wash. Don’t waste hundreds of dollars on laundry detergent." Wow, I had no idea that detergent costs 40 cents per load!

I'd love to get the green wash ball and the dryer balls for one simple reason. Allergies!

Between all four of us being sensitive to different things, there is literally only one type of one brand of detergent and one type of one brand of dryer sheet we can all use without breaking out in rashes. And you know how it is, as soon as you find a product you love, they take it off the market in favor of something "new and improved." Not only could this save us big bucks, but it'd help ensure we stay comfortable in our clothes even if those brands take those specific detergent/dryer sheet blends off the shelves.

    FattyPants May 27, 2009 1:19 PM

I had no idea that laundry soap worked by altering ph. So odd, so what is all the soapy stuff for?

Just to add we use vinegar in our wash (don't worry it won't smell) to help fight static. It works great

Very interesting product. Do you need more than one if you do laundry in the big commercial machines?

    tawnda May 28, 2009 9:47 AM

saves $$, no allergens, no more over-sudsing, no more worries! (except to remember to get it out of the clothes before throwing them in the dryer... lol)

    Heather,  May 28, 2009 10:10 AM

I love the idea of how cheap per load they are. Just tossing them in the wash over and over. We are currently using Charlie Soap and so far its not turning out to be as cheap as we had hoped for our hard water ($16.00 a month..not bad but not what I had hoped for when we started using it..thought the bucket would last at least a year but it didn't).

I also like the idea of an eco friendly washer ball. From what I've been reading about these washer balls they do have a carbon footprint being imported and all but if you can save by not having to buy detergent and save on the plastic jugs etc then its worth it to me.

I would love to hear more reviews on these and cloth diaper reviews too!

    Maidenfine May 28, 2009 12:37 PM

We have two cats (technically four since one had kittens but they're temporary). I try to use laundry detergents that reduce allergens and we have a fan that filters the air, but the fact is, my daughter still sometimes breaks out into hives for unknown reasons. It's not a severe enough reaction for the doctor to want to put her through allergy testing, but I figure the fewer possibilities for allergies, the better.

If only I could get rid of the cats as easily as I could get rid of the laundry detergent.

    Jessie Lynn May 28, 2009 1:15 PM

"The friction of the natural ceramics inside the GreenWashBall in your machine will increase the pH level of the water." That's great to know, but I still would like to know the physics or chemistry of how it works in greater detail. If you had not reviewed this, I would have written this off as a scam. The GreenWashBall has a pH equivalent to that of an ordinary chemical detergent. This treats grease, organic or chemical stains efficiently. It eliminates chlorine compounds in water and decreases its superficial pressure, increasing therefore its washing power. Finally, the GreenWashBall eliminates pathogen germs in the water of your washing machine, giving clean and healthy linen. GreenWashBall has an antibacterial effect and eliminates bad odors.

    Deborah June 02, 2009 11:26 AM

I'd like a big green wash ball because we're working hard to eliminate chemicals in our home, and even the more "natural" laundry products contain things I can't pronounce. asthenight at gmail dot com

I am interested in winning the Green Wash Ball. I visited the website where it explains what it is and what it does and I am fascinated to find out if everything I heard is true. I am a first time homeowner, I just bought a house this past January and was not quite ready for all the responsibilities that came with owning a house. I'm talking about the extra bills that came with it. So if I am to save money by using this wash ball, it is an opportunity that I would like to have. Anything that helps me save money is a great thing as I need all the help I can get being a new homeowner. Please consider me for winning this green wash ball. I have subscribed to your email newsletter as well.

I learned that it's the he friction of the natural ceramics inside the GreenWashBall while in your machine that increases the pH level of the water which makes it easier for your stains to be released.
I'd love to have this because it seems like we are always trying a new detergent to find one that really works and doesn't cost us a fortune to use.

I'm all for going 'green', especially if it saves money doing so! ;)

I like it because you don't need soap in case you run out and that makes washing your clothes more economical!

I learned that there are only high quality ceramics inside the GreenWashBall. No chemicals or detergent.

I would love to not have to buy detergent.
