Land Of The Lost Review

I love Will Ferrell. I like pretty much every movie he's ever been in...except this one.
This movie was a ginormous disappointment to me. Will Ferrell's character is not as funny as some of the characters he plays in other movies (Old School, Wedding Crashers, Elf, Night At The Roxbury)
This is what IMDB says:
On his latest expedition, Dr. Rick Marshall (Ferrell) is sucked into a space-time vortex alongside his research assistant (Friel) and a redneck survivalist (McBride). In this alternate universe, the trio make friends with a primate named Chaka (Taccone), their only ally in a world full of dinosaurs and other fantastic creatures. Can they all make it back to our world alive, and if so: Will Dr. Marshall can go from zero to hero with his discoveries?
My version:
Dr. Rick Marshall and his assistant head out on a journey/time warp with a "survivalist" . They encounter dinosaurs and primates. The antics are a little crazy. Funny at times, but mostly just silly. Which, I shouldn't complain...as Will Ferrell's middle name is "Silly"...isn't it?
My friend an I had fun pointing out shots from the movie that reminded us of other films (Jurassic Park, The Ruins, The Goonies). Which I know none of these films have any relation but some of it was vaguely familiar.
The best parts were the ones you see in the previews. And there was a scene where they break out into song, Broadway style, that was pretty funny. The scenes where he is interviewing with Matt Lauer were pretty comical.
Don't get me wrong, it had it's moments...but they were few and far between. I think my kids would have really liked it. There is a little adult humor and drug references but nothing that so bad that got this movie a PG-13 rating.
Oh wait...he does drop the F-bomb once or twice. That must be it.
And I realize that this is not a well written review. I had a hard time paying attention. And there just aren't that many memorable scenes. The story line was dull.
All in all...I'd say save your $8 and wait for it to be released on DVD.
