The Proposal Review

So tonight was my weekly girl's night out at the movies. We've been wanting to see The Proposal since we started seeing preview for it a couple months ago.

This movie was SO funny! A cute, romantic comedy that's not too chick-flicky. I'm sure my hubby would have even liked this one. And the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds (hello lover!) and Sandra Bullock is great.

Margaret (Bullock) is an up-tight, professional with a power trip. Andrew is her secretary...er assistant (Reynolds) who does whatever she pleases in hopes of one day becoming editor and having his book published.

When Margaret is threatened with deportation (she's from Canada) for not renewing her Visa in a timely manner she springs marriage on her assistant in hopes it will keep her in the country and in the job she loves.

After a crazy visit to his family in Alaska (Craig T. Nelson, Mary Steenburgen & Betty White) their impromptu wedding is planned while they visit for the weekend.

It was a little strange to see Sandra Bullock play such a bitchy character. As she's always the nice 'girl next door' type in so many movies. But she really pulled it off quite well. And with Ryan Reynolds witty-smart-ass-type charm, they really were a perfect match as a couple in the film. If you've seen Ryan Reynolds in pretty much any of his other films (Waiting, Van Wilder, etc.), then you know what I mean when I say smart ass. LOL And my hell, he's so easy on the eyes...

If you get the chance go see this one. You won't be disappointed.

First let me say that I'm SO jealous that you get a weekly girls night! I had my monthly girls night last night and we also saw this movie. I totally agree with your review. I'm buying it as sson as it comes out on DVD, and drove all the way home singing the Rob Bass song :)
