Smelly Washer Giveaway - CLOSED

Does your washing machine smell funky? What about your towels?

I know my towels sometimes have a musty or moldy smell. We have this horrible bad habit of just tossing towels into the hamper while they're still damp. And only washing them once a week or so...yeah, they get a little funky. And sometimes detergent alone isn't enough to remove those odors.

What I like about Smelly Washer is you can use to take the funk out of your washer or your towels/clothes/linens. Other products I've seen are only good for your machine.

I tried Smelly Washer in my machine. It's super simple to use...fill your machine with hot water, add a capful of Smelly Washer to the dispenser, let it agitate for 2 minutes, let it sit over night, then run the cycle.

I definitely noticed a difference in my machine the next morning. It didn't have any odor at all.

I also used a capful of Smelly Washer in a load of towels. You just add your towels and a capful of Smelly Washer to hot water, let them soak for 2 hours then run the cycle. Re-run the cycle with your normal detergent.

I really noticed a difference in the towels. They smelled like my detergent. Not like a combination of old moldy smell and detergent. (This really makes us sound like we have grossly molded towels...I assure you, it's not. LOL)

One bottle of Smelly Washer is good for 24 treatments or up to one year. It's all natural and it works. For $16.99 (+ shipping) for an entire year's worth of treatments it's definitely worth it.

I have one bottle of Smelly Washer to give away to one lucky Fairy Blog Mother reader.

I went to the odor removal tips and learned that in front load or top load machines the main cause of stink is using too much detergents especially liquid.

OT glad I measure to the exact line whenever I wash clothes unlike the rest of the family lol.

To prevent mildew and smell after you’re done doing laundry, leave the lid or door ajar for a few hours to allow any excess water to evaporate. On a front loader, also pull the detergent drawer out a bit to allow it to dry.

Thanks for the chance to win this giveaway... I could really use it, we use a lot of towels at the pool and they are beginning to smell, and the baking soda and white vinegar are just not keeping up.

Kidazy August 23, 2009 8:27 PM

I learned that:
Because softener is dispensed in the rinse cycle of a washing machine it leaves a residue on the inside of the outer tub. Odor-causing mold grows on this residue and is transferred to towels and clothing.

GROSS!

So here I am trying to be good about using cold water and that's not good for the machine!!! I learned that I should do a hot soak AT LEAST once a week since I only wash with cold water.

Amanda S. August 24, 2009 11:16 AM

I learned this: "The problem is so bad that class action lawsuits have been filed against major manufacturers of frontloading washers such as Whirlpool and LG alleging design flaws that cause buildup of odor-causing mold in their clothes washers."

That's interesting to me because I have a front loader with mold issues and I think it's a design flaw in mine too that's causing it.

I learned that the main cause of front load or top load stink is overuse of detergents because the user is following directions for amount used. It’s necessary to use just a fraction of what directions on the box or bottle advise to use.
