Brandi Carlile Review

I really love doing music reviews. And One2One Network has really sent me some great new music to check out (and more to come!)

I received a digital download copy of Brandi Carlile's new album Give Up The Ghost.

I don't believe I've ever even used the term 'indie rock' before.  But that is definitely the best way to classify this album.  In fact, Paste Magazine called her the "best voice in indie rock".  Folk rock would also be a good description of the type of music on this album as most of the songs have a folksy kind of sound to them.

Brandi Carlile's music style immediately reminded me of the Indigo Girls. I'd say if you're a fan of the Indigo Girls or Edie Brickell & New Bohemians then you'd like Brandi Carlile. She has also been compared to KT Tunstall, and I do get a little of a KT kinda vibe from her too.

Her new album Give Up The Ghost was just released on Tuesday (10/6) and was recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound in Hollywood. She kicked off her Give Up The Ghost Traveling Show on September 10th right here in Salt Lake City. I wish I had known, as I'd have liked to have seen her perform live. You can purchase tickets for a show near you at BrandiCarlile.com

The first single, Dreams, was co-written by her bandmates, who are twin brothers. Click on the widget below to listen to Dreams:

Besides the debut track Dreams, other favorite songs of mine were Oh DearDying Day (very KT Tunstall) and Caroline...a duet with Sir Elton John.  Very cool!

Brandi Carlile is a very talented singer and song writer and I very much enjoyed her new album.  Give Up The Ghost is available for purchase on iTunes and music retailers.

Much thanks to the One2One Network for this review opportunity.

The "I don't like fancy lingo" disclaimer:
I received a free item in exchange for a review. These reviews are my opinion(s) and any compensation received did not sway me to say nice things about the product/company. What you read is what I think.
