The Invention Of Lying - Movie Review

Synopsis:
Mark (Ricky Gervais), a screenplay writer, lives in a world where everyone can only tell the truth. The flat out, brutally honest truth. After losing his job and being unable to pay his rent he discovers he can say something that is untrue and people believe him. He goes on and on telling made up stories and gets worldwide attention, money, mansions and...well yeah.

Really, that was about it.

Jennifer Garner plays the love interest in the movie. Because she lives in never-tell-a-lie-land and can only speak the truth it's funny to see her be so mean to Mark.

The best parts of this movie are what is shown in the previews.

To be fair, I'll say the first 45 minutes was good. We were laughing, it was funny, we were enjoying ourselves. But it quickly and horribly went downhill and we were soon longing for the film to be over.

This movie sucked.

We've decided we will not see another movie with Ricky Gervais in it. As we really wanted to see Ghost Town when it came out and it sucked equally bad, if not more.

Sorry Ricky. :(

I don't know if I'm glad I didn't pay to see this (I had some free Fandango bucks)...or if I'm mad that I used my Fandango bucks.

We're off to see Zombieland tonight...and I'm sure we'll see Whip It sometime this week too.  It's a good week for movies.

Sorry, you had to endure a boring movie. I hate that. Seriously. I just went to see Fame and it was disappointing as well.
I actually listened to a review of Invention of Lying on the radio and he didn't have too many good things to say about it so I spared myself the torture.
