Chicken Soup For The Pet Lover's Soul Giveaway - CLOSED

I am an animal lover. A pet lover. I admit I'm not overly fond of dogs but I have one.  She's freakishly ugly...but we love her.

This is our dog, Lacy.  Not a very flattering angle for her...not that any angle is.

I've also been dog sitting my ex-husband's dog for the last two months. (Proof that I really am a nice person.)

And I have a cat. My cat can do no wrong. I admit I favor the cat over the dog. But my hubby favors the dog over the cat, so there is no psychological damage done to either pet. They are loved.

This is Pedro, and yes, he is named after Pedro from the movie Napoleon Dynamite.  Pedro offers you his protection.

The main responsibility with having pets is making sure they're taken care of properly.  With foods that are good for their dietary needs and restrictions, veterinary care and of course unconditional love.  Pets are fluffy members of your family.

Chicken Soup For The Pet Lover's Soul is a website that offers information on pet care, nutrition and pet products. There are customer testimonials and even a rewards program for breeders.  They've recently introduced a line of pet foods in different varieties to suit your pet's dietary needs.

Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul provides premium nutrition for your dog or cat. We offer a full line of formulas to meet your pet's changing and unique nutritional needs. So whether your pet is a puppy or kitten, a senior or somewhere in between, the innovative formulas from Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul provide nutrition to help promote your pet's lifelong health.
Chicken Soup For The Pet Lover's Soul offers healthy, natural foods for your pets.  And to help bring some attention to the Chicken Soup brand of pet foods I have a great prize package to give away to one of my lucky readers.

The prize pack includes:
  • a sample of  Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul pet food (winner can choose)
  • a copy of Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul book
  • $30 gift certificate to PetFoodDirect.com, which offers much more than just pet food.

To enter this giveaway:
Visit the Chicken Soup For The Pet Lover's Soul website and tell me something you learned about pet care

Overweight pets are more likely to develop diabetes, suffer from heart and breathing problems and endure painful arthritis.

My own pets are a 16 year old cat and a 15 year old cat plus an 8 year old miniature pinscher named Puppy (we could never agree on a name and after a year that just became his name). BUT my son and his wife live with me and have 6 dogs 9 cats 5 aquatic turtles 3 guinea pigs and 4 rats. Naturally I get to take care of them most of the time since I am home and they work.

Maddie is our baby girl who who bought from a breeder in long Island NY, we drove all the way from NH to get her. I absolutely can't live without them --they are our Fur-kids. Lastly we have kitty, who is a 4 year old Tabby my fiance got me after my Labrador of 18 years passed away and she is definately a daddy's girl. She gets so excited to see him and I practically have to beg for attention :)

Without taurine, cats can develop blindness and heart failure, so that's one reason cats should eat cat food and not dog food, as many dog foods do not have added taurine.

I learned that cats can get the avian flu (H5N1) by eating an infected bird. I'm not sure how prevalent that flu virus is in the U.S. I know someone who said her husband and child contracted some strange hybrid of avian and swine flu. I don't have to worry about my cats because they're indoor only, but my mom has outdoor cats, and they do nab a bird every now and again.
