Fantastic Mr. Fox Prize Pack Giveaway - CLOSED

Fantastic Mr. Fox came out in theaters just this last weekend.  I've seen the previews on TV and though I'm not much of a fan of kids movies (or anything animated, cartoons...) this actually looks pretty cute.

Mr. and Mrs. Fox live a pretty normal life with their son Ash and their nephew Kristopher.  But Mr. Fox's animal instincts come back after quite a few years and he resumes his old habits of being a chicken thief.  Mr. Fox puts his entire family in danger.  All the animals band together to fight against the farmers.  (this is just a basic synopsis from info I collected online at fandango.com)

George Clooney and Meryl Streep do the voices of Mr. and Mrs. Fox.

Check out this video from the Fantastic Mr. Fox soundtrack:
Let Her Dance performed by The Bobby Fuller Four

Buy the exclusive deluxe version of the album on iTunes: http://bit.ly/FanFoxOST

I have two Fantastic Mr. Fox prize packages to giveaway to two lucky readers.  The prize pack includes:

The Way Late Bitch & Moan

Fairy Blog Mother

Yep. Late. Maybe I should just change the day I do this meme? Or maybe I should just keep it random? Meh...

Anyway, I'm here...and I'm bitching and moaning.  Grab the button and link up your post so I can come and bitch and moan with you.

I'm tired:
Today was my first day at my new job. I can't say I love it, can't say I like it but I can't say I hate it either. Watching PowerPoint Presentations (training) all day long is incredibly monotonous and boring and it was putting me to sleep. I'm sure I'll like it better when I get to do some actual work.

Christmas Lights:
They look nice when you take the time to put them on your house or whatever. But these people that just haphazardly toss a string of lights on to a shrub or one itty bitty window of their house...well why even bother? It looks redonkulous. Don't half-ass the Christmas lights people.

One Hour Lunch Breaks:
For our training schedule we work 8:30 am to 5:30 pm with a one hour lunch. My regular work schedule will only have a 30 minute lunch break. Which is what I prefer. At 2 pm this afternoon is when I found out I wasn't off work until 5:30. Blah.

This Damn Halloween Simpson's DVD:
If I have to watch it again I'm going to take the DVD and snap it in half. Ethan wants to watch it all the fucking time. And normally it doesn't bother me when he wants to watch something over and over as I'll just tune it out. But this particular DVD has 5 different episodes on it and the DVD does not continuously play. It goes to the menu and you have to hit 'play' for each episode. I hate it!

Family Members Who Feel The Need To Guilt Trip Other Family Members Even Though They Are The Ones Being Douchebags And It's Not Anybody's Fault That They're Miserable Except Their Own:
Um...yeah.

So what pissed you off this week?  Or last week, I should say...

Mozella CD Giveaway - CLOSED

So this was another album that I was just going to giveaway without actually reviewing it (the sponsor said it was ok!).  But I was sent the video link to check out Mozella's song "Magic" off her new album and after watching the video I immediately headed over to Rhapsody (that's where I get my downloads...love them) and downloaded the album in it's entirety.  I loooooooooove it!

This song, Magic...so upbeat.  Fun.  I really like it.

Mozella - Magic (Oh Oh Oh)

I just looooooove her!  She reminded me of Duffy...Adele...Corrine Bailey Ray.  She has a little soulfulness to her voice.  But has that quirky sound that immediately reminds me of Duffy.

I also have one copy of Mozella's album Belle Isle to give away to one lucky Fairy Blog Mother reader.

To enter this giveaway:
Visit the Mozella MySpace page and tell me another song you like

I'm Not Worthy

Some of my fellow bloggers have given me some awards in the last couple weeks and I am just barely getting around to them. I suck. I know it.

Back on November 10, Lua over at Mom It Forward! gave me the Lemonade Stand Award. She thinks my blog has great attitude or shows gratitude! Thank you so much, Lua!

And just today, Kayla over at The Eclectic Element gave me the same award!

And back on November 23, Lucky Canuck gave me the Honest Scrap Award.  The Honest Scrap Award is given to those blogs who are brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged others.

Muchas gracias to lovely gals who gave me these awards.  It's nice to be recognized!

I will pass these along when I have more time...I just couldn't let these go un-noticed any longer.

Thank you again!

Andrea Bocelli - My Christmas - Giveaway - CLOSED

Gonna be totally honest here.  When I was asked if I wanted to review the new Andrea Bocelli album I was less than enthusiastic.  While he has a wonderful voice, it's just not the type of music that I enjoy.

But I didn't want to turn down the opportunity to give the album to one of my lucky readers.  As I know some of you out there would enjoy it.  And I probably would too, if I'd give it a chance.  But I'll just pass it along to you...see how nice I am?

My Christmas has already been #1 on Billboard's Holiday Albums and Classical Albums chart for over two weeks and is currently number 2 on the Billboard 200.

This is Andrea Bocelli's first ever Christmas album.  The album features 14 Christmas classics and is available for purchase in stores and on iTunes.

The Christmas Song is performed by Andrea Bocelli and Natalie Cole, whose father was the first to record this holiday favorite back in 1946.

  1. I Believe
  2. Adeste Fideles
  3. O Tannenbaum
  4. Blue Christmas
  5. White  Christmas
  6. The Christmas Song (duet with Natalie Cole)
  7. Oh Holy Night
  8. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
  9. Jingle Bells - (duet with The Muppets)
  10. Silent Night
  11. Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle
  12. The Lord’s Prayer
  13. What Child Is This (duet with Mary J Blige)
  14. Angels We Have Heard On High

I also have one copy of Andrea Bocelli's album My Christmas to give away to one lucky Fairy Blog Mother reader.

Men Of A Certain Age - Preview Review

Men Of A Certain AgeMen Of A Certain Age

Men of a Certain Age is a new show that chronicles the lives of three men who have been friends since college.  They're approaching a crossroads in their lives where they're not quite young enough to be considered young, yet not quite old enough to be considered middle-aged.

The three men lead very different lives, but are very supportive of each other and each other's issues. The show follows them through their daily lives as they try to decide what steps to take to guide them through the journey.

  • Joe (Ray Romano) is newly divorced with two kids, runs a party store and has a gambling problem.
  • Terry (Scott Bakula) has never been married, owns a gym and teaches yoga.
  • Owen (Andre Braugher) is married with kids and works at a car dealership for his father.
I was able to preview a 15 minute clip of Men of a Certain Age.  And while it was funny and held my attention...I think I expected it to be funnier (is that a word?) because Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond) is one of the lead actors.  There are funny parts, but there was a lot of seriousness to it as well.  Ray's character, Joe, really has kind of a sad situation with his divorce and gambling problem so it was really different to see Romano in a more serious role like that.  The other two actors, I'm not all that familiar with so I have nothing to compare them to.  Terry (Bakula) is a playboy...man-whore?  (haha) and Owen (Braugher) is disappointed in his job, hates working for his father doing car sales.

I think I will check out the full episode when it airs, as the preview kind of left me hanging, so now I'm curious.

Men of a Certain Age premiers on TNT on December 7th. (check your local listings for times)

Much thanks to YouCast for providing me with a preview of the show.

Where The Hell Have I Been?

Gone.
Missing.
I ran away from home.

Or I just took a couple days off to enjoy some holiday time with my family.

We had a nice (i.e. uneventful) Thanksgiving and that was all I could really ask for. We stayed home, I made dinner and had a small get together. Now my two older kids are with their dad, my house is still clean and I'm sick, sick, sick of the leftovers (in the freezer they go!).

I need to get my Christmas tree set up. I usually do it the day after Thanksgiving, but this year (like I've already mentioned eleventy hundred times) I'm just not feeling it. I wish there was a way I could make my kids forget about Christmas this year. Shame, shame, shame on me.

And now that I've taken two days off I am behind on reviews, I have some giveaways (I think)...and I still need to bitch and moan this week.

So off I go to try and get caught up so I can go play Mafia Wars.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and for those of you brave enough to go shopping yesterday (or anytime at all this weekend)...I hope you got some great deals!

Spice Up Your Holiday With Cook's Ham - Giveaway - CLOSED

It's the holiday season.  And when it comes to holiday meals only two things come to mind...turkey...and ham.  I know we typically have turkey on Thanksgiving and ham on Christmas.  And this year isn't any different.

The Cook's Ham website has recipe ideas and tips and videos on how to prepare your hams.   They'll show you the difference in the types of hams available, how to cook it, how to season it and even how to cut it.  Have trouble carving a whole bone-in ham?  Cook's can show you how.

I am saving my ham for Christmas, as Thanksgiving is already taken care of.  But I'm really looking forward to the Brown Sugar Spiral Sliced Ham...or the Double Glazed Spiral Sliced Ham...

Could you use some help with dinner this holiday season?

I have one coupon for a free Cook's ham (up to $30) to give away to one lucky Fairy Blog Mother reader.

Build a K'nexion with K'nex

Thanks to Team Mom my kids and I had the opportunity to check out some new toys thanks to K'nex.

K'nex are fun flexible building toys that let you build 2-D and 3-D creations.

We received the K'nex 400 Piece Tub. The convenient storage tub includes instruction on how to build 20 different models. And they aren't lying when they say the possibilities are endless...or that it gives endless hours of creative fun. Ethan and Hunter opened this and it's like they were transformed into the two most quiet children on the planet. They built and created and tore apart and rebuilt over and over again.

The K'nex rods, connectors and bricks easily snap together.  And K'nex work with other building sets like Lego so there is a lot of versatility if you already own other building sets.

This kit is recommended for ages 7+ because there are a lot of small pieces that could pose as a choking hazard. I let Ethan (he's almost 3) play with it, but we have to watch him.  All in all, this was a huge hit with my boys.  They've played with it every day since it arrived.

The K'nex 400 Piece Tub is available at Target, Walmart and Toys R Us ($20.99 +/-)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We were also sent one of the K'nex Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection Building Sets. There are four different building sets in the Sesame Street collection, we received the Sesame Street 1-2-3 Brownstone.  The pieces in this set are larger and geared towards kids ages 2-5 years of age.  We actually opened this one first because Hunter was at school.  But this set kept Ethan thoroughly entertained for quite a while.  He recognized the friendly characters (Elmo, Cookie Monster and Bert [he's in the window]) and...well, he had the box in his hand and was biting at the corner to get it open.  LOL

We have a set of K'nex that have bigger pieces and they worked perfectly with this Sesame Street set.  Ethan build the house over and over again.  He especially liked popping the heads off of Elmo and Cookie Monster (don't ask).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
K'nex inspire your kids to use their imaginations and they help to develop and strengthen fine motor skills and enhance hand-eye coordination.

And K'nex is giving you the chance to win $1,000 worth of K'nex Building Sets.  Make a video (minimum 30 seconds - maximum 3 minutes) showing your child's building skills using the K'nex 400 piece tub or the one of the K'nex Sesame Street Building Sets.  Visit http://knex.com for more details.

A very big thank you to Team Mom and K'nex for providing me with the review items.
