New Rules & Guidelines For ALL Giveaways

I hate to sound like a mega-bitch but people who cheat to get extra entries...or any entry into a giveaway really piss me off.

I work hard on the giveaway posts and the sponsors that are nice enough to offer up a prize...well the LEAST you can do is visit their site and leave a valid comment to gain entry. I know that people copy answers from the comment area and I'm just not going to tolerate it any longer.

Effective January 1, 2010:

  • All comments will remain in queue until the giveaway is closed. I hate to do this, but it is the only way I think I can verify that people are actually visiting the site and not just copying the answer.  I really do not think I ask much to visit a sponsor's site.  If it's a prize you really want, then you shouldn't have a problem doing this either.
  • Extra entries for Tweeting MUST include a link to your tweet or they will be discarded immediately. I do not have time to go researching on Twitter.
  • Blog post entries must be on an ACTUAL BLOG. If your "blog" is just a blog you created so you can get extra entries into giveaways then I will not count your entry. If your "blog" consists mostly of links to other giveaways/contests...sorry, no extra entry for you.
  • For those that do have VALID blogs and choose to do a blog post about my giveaway, you will now receive 5 extra entries. However, you MUST leave a link to your blog post in your comment and you must leave 5 comments (you do not have to put the link in each comment).
  • I know I've said this before and gone back and changed it...but I'm changing it again.  I will not be doing a winner's post.  Winners will be emailed and their name posted on the original blog post.  I know some enjoy reading who the winners are and several of you congratulate each winner, which is very nice.  But I received some emails/comments stating that this email announcement was NEEDED for their own personal knowledge.  Well um...no it's not.  Because if you really care who won then you can come back and find out, or you'll receive an email if you're the winner.  I can't accommodate to everyone, nor will I try.  Sorry.
  • If your email address is not on your profile or posted in your comment...well, you can't win.  Sorry.
  • Subscriptions must be confirmed.  I do check.  Don't just say you're subscribed when you're not.  I can tell and I do check.  Same goes for Facebook fans, Twitter followers/tweets, buttons posted on your site, etc.
  • And as usual...the comments like "enter me", "my kids would love this", "great giveaway" will automatically be discarded.  And your name and email address will be posted in my sidebar under DOUCHEBAGS.  (kidding....maybe)

My blog is not some free for all sweepstakes site.  I value all of my readers.  My loyal readers...I know who you are...and I know which ones only stop by when I have a giveaway.  I have no control over that, I'm glad you're all here...but at least appreciate the work I put into this by not cheating or cutting corners to gain entry.

Thanks!

Sunday Stealing 12/27

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
  • I helped a woman deliver her baby in the back of a taxi cab.
  • I rescued a litter of kittens from a burning building.
  • I adopted orphans from all over the world...Brangelina style.
Now I'm off to collect my Nobel Peace Prize.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make resolutions.  I'm not the long (or short) term goal kind of person.  I'm more of an "immediate results" kind of person.

3. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
Working until 8:30 PM, then probably sitting on my couch until midnight or so.  Exciting, eh?

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.  And if they did...well I DIDN'T DO IT!

5. What countries did you visit?
Just the one I live in.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A normal job with normal hours.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The night Chicago died.  (I heard my Mama cry...)
(Yeah, most won't even get this...and I know it has nothing to do with the question but I couldn't think of a real answer.  So deal with it...)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
My (imaginary) Nobel Peace Prize.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Lying about adopting orphans, delivering babies in taxi cabs, rescuing kittens and that pesky Nobel Peace Prize.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I hurt my knee doing something...and I had to go to physical torture therapy .  It's still not healed.  And I refuse to pay anymore money to the Physical Torturist Therapist.

Better than last year's epic injury that involved the Wii Fit and 3 months of chiropractic care.  Imagine my humiliation admitting I'd injured myself playing a video game.  I should have lied.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My anniversary trip to Las Vegas.

12. Where did most of your money go?
I'd like to say I donated it to charity, gave it to orphans...or even gambled it away on the above mentioned trip to Vegas.  But most of it went to bills.  *sigh*

13. What song will always remind you of 2009?
3 Oh! 3 - Don't Trust Me

*Shush girl...shut your lips....do the Helen Keller...and talk with your hips*

14. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Adopting orphans, rescuing kittens, winning Nobel Peace Prizes and delivering babies in the back of taxi cabs.  (and gambling)

15. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Lying.  Compulsive lying.

16. What was your favourite TV program?
First off....it's FAVORITE.
And the only shows I watch regularly are Roseanne, Forensic Files, American Idol, 90210 and Melrose Place.  Yes, my life is THAT exciting.

17. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yep.  And I won't say that I didn't hate them before, I just didn't hate them as much

18. What was the best book you read?
Happy New Year - ted.

19. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Where have they been all my life?

20. What was your favorite film of this year?
Hands down, the best films of the year.
Oh...and I liked Whip It, too.

21. What did you do on your birthday?
I don't remember.  Maybe went to Wendover or dinner or something.

22. What kept you sane?
Zoloft.  Xanax.  Beer.  (in no particular order)

23. Who did you miss?
Little Grandma

24. Who was the best new person you met?
Does it count if you're only "friends" with them on Facebook?

25. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
Don't lie about winning Nobel Peace Prizes, rescuing kittens, delivering babies in the back of taxi cabs or adopting orphans.

*Just so you all know.  I'm not a compulsive liar.   I lied about being a liar.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I'm taking a little break over the holiday. I'm scheduled to work and would just like some time to relax after this week.

I will be skipping Bitch & Moan this week...unless I find it absolutely necessary to get on here and gripe about something (I'm sure I will).

Otherwise, my plan is to return to the bloggy world on Sunday.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

$5 Dinners - Win A Cookbook!

I've been following the $5 Dinner Mom's blog for several months now. She creates budget friendly, healthy meals for her family that cost $5 or less.

Sounds impossible...but it's totally do-able.

It's been pretty neat to watch Erin the last few months. I caught her on Racheal Ray a few months back and she was just on GMA this morning.

Her book, The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook was released recently and I'm anxious to check it out myself.

Erin is giving away 10 copies of her book every day for the next 2 weeks.  Visit 5dollardinners.com for your chance to win a copy!

And much congrats to Erin on her success!

PinkTooth Review

I recently had the opportunity to review a PinkTooth. What is a PinkTooth? Well it's a Bluetooth Wireless Headset...but it's all bling'd out. Therefore it's a PinkTooth.  PinkTooth's (PinkTeeth? LOL) were created by the maker's of chicBuds, which I have also previously reviewed and loved.

I've been wanting to try a Wireless Headset (I received the pink one.) for a while now. As the most convenient time for me to make or take phone calls is when I'm driving, on my way to work, errands, etc. With three kids at home it is never quiet, it's almost impossible to make a phone call when I'm home alone.

And we all know that driving and holding a phone/talking is dangerous. It's a distraction no matter how safe you think you're being. I admit it, I've done it...I do it. I'm also guilty of occasionally texting while driving which I've previously admitted to...don't flame me.

The PinkTooth was incredibly easy to set up. I plugged it into my computer via the USB cable that it came with and in just about 2 hours it was charged and ready to use. The instructions were simple to follow. Enable a BlueTooth device on your phone, turn on the PinkTooth and let them find each other.

It works best if the actual phone is pretty close to you. The PinkTooth itself easily fits on the ear and comes with a little hook that will loop over the top of your ear to hold it in place. It's small...not quite half the length of my pinky finger, so it's discreet, can fit in your pocket, purse or anywhere really when not in use.  And it's sparkly! And cute! Who doesn't like sparkly?

I found the sound quality to be a little echo-y the first time I used it. I adjusted the volume level on it and it helped a bit. I've used it quite a few times since then and while the sound quality is not stellar, it's on the better side of good.

I plan on keeping it charged and in my car so that I can use it while driving. As I just need to quit the habit of driving and talking...period.

Much thanks to Chic Execs PR for the review opportunity.

Smelly Towel Review and Giveaway - CLOSED

A few months back I did a review for Smelly Washer and had very good results with it.  My washing machine does get a moldy, mildewy type of odor on occasion and Smelly Washer took care of the problem with only one use.

Well the maker's of Smelly Washer have come up with a new product that is not yet available for purchase, Smelly Towel.

Do your towels sometimes smell funky?  I know mine do, especially dish towels and wash rags that have been sitting in the laundry.  No matter how many hot washes with detergent, vinegar or whatever they always still have a little bit of funk to them.

I was sent a bottle of the Smelly Towel cleaner to try out.  It's incredibly simple to use.  You just place your towels and one cap full of Smelly Towel in to your machine and wash regularly.  You can choose to soak them for an hour before if you choose.

The result:  Odor free towels.  Finally!
Like I mentioned before, sometimes my bath towels will smell mildewy...I blame that on forgetting to place them in the dryer.  I've forgotten way too many times.  But my main issues was my dish towels and wash rags that are used for cleaning.  Because they're usually tossed in the laundry while wet or damp and sometimes may not get washed right away they always had the funky smell.

One use of Smelly Towel remedied the problem.  I've since used it on all of my towels and even some clothing that had managed to sit in the washer for too long and develop an odor.  (Yes, I'm incredibly horrible and forgetful when it comes to laundry.)

Again, like I mentioned before...Smelly Towel Cleaner is not yet available for purchase.  However...I also have one bottle of Smelly Towel Cleaner to give away to one lucky Fairy Blog Mother reader.

Sunday Stealing 12/20

1. What is your favorite holiday show/animated show?

Well I love the movie Elf and Christmas Vacation.  I can't think of an animated one that I like though.

2. What holiday character do you think you're most like?

Um...remember that movie Bad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton?  I'm probably most like that. The female version...

3. What holiday character does your spouse think you're most like?

This one...

His mind is seriously distorted and warped...

4. Favorite Christmas/holiday song?

I like Silver Bells...but I don't know all of the words.

5. Most hated Christmas/holiday song?

I don't know.  I don't pay a whole lot of attention.  I've heard them all, don't have any of them memorized and probably never will.

6. If you have an all holiday music radio station when do you start listening to it?

Never.  The only time I listen to Christmas music willingly is when I'm baking and I have a few CD's that I like to listen to.  Even then, it's been a few years since I've done that.

7. If you have an all holiday music radio station do you love it or hate it?

I think I'm going to go with the hate it on this one.  You hear those songs in every tv commercial, in every store or shopping center this time of year.  A radio station that plays it non-stop is just un-necessary.

8. Have you ever wrapped yourself as a Christmas present?

Nope.  That is just redonkulous.  And I'm fairly certain my husband would think so too.

9. Who is Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer's father?

According to the movie...his father was Donner.
But if you wanna get really technical (you do, don't you?)... All male reindeer lose their antlers in the winter months.  So according to nature all of the reindeer, including old Rudy Red Nose were female.  That or they were castrated male reindeer.

Yes, I just killed wholesome family holiday entertainment.
Um...moving on.  I've spent entirely too much time Googling about reindeer.  (thank you Snopes and About.com: Urban Legends)

10. Do you drive your neighborhood or one near you at night to look at other people's holiday decorations?

Once in a while I may take a slight detour if I can see lights/decorations from the street.  But it's for my kids enjoyment, not mine.  I'd rather go home.

11. When you see a heavily decorated house do you think, 'oh that's lovely'? Or do you think, 'oh criminy, that looks like Christmas threw up all over their lawn'?

First off...I don't think I've EVER used the word 'criminy' in my life.  But I'm gonna go with the Christmas threw up all over their house/lawn on this one.

Example:

While trying to find a picture I found these two sites:

12. Are you counting the days to Christmas with excited anticipation or dread?

I think I'm more on the dread spectrum.  I have to work on Christmas day.

13. When was the last time you had your photo taken with Santa? Did you sit on his lap?

I don't recall ever having my picture taken with Santa.  Mom?

14. Do you make a Christmas list for your spouse or significant other or do you rely on them to pick your gift(s) without a clue from you?

I don't expect anything from my spouse for Christmas.  If he does get me something (which he usually...er always) does.  But if he didn't get me anything I wouldn't care...unless he put the money for my Christmas present in a stripper's g-string.  Then I would care.  Not because he's watching strippers...because he's giving our money to them.  Nonsense, I say!

15. When do you put up your tree?

I usually put it up the day after Thanksgiving.  This year it was a week or so after.  I was sick of it within 10 minutes.  I can't wait to take it down.

16. Real or fake?

That's a bit of a personal question isn't it?

Oooooh...you meant my Christmas tree.  It's fake.  I don't want to deal with the hassle of a real one.

17. When do you take your tree down?

Last year it was the day after Christmas.  Sometimes I'll leave it up until New Year's.  This year as soon as the presents are opened that fucker is going back in the crawl space under the house.

18. Do you shop the day after Christmas sales? What do you shop for?

No.  I'll pay full price for things in order to avoid chaos.

19. Is your work/office having a holiday party this year? Will you attend?

Yes.  But the only reason I'm attending is because the only office party we're having is on Christmas Eve and everyone in our department has to work that day (mandatory).  So given the choice, I'd not attend...but since I have to...and I'm getting paid to, then yeah, I'll be there.

20. Do you have your New Year's Eve Plans set yet?

Um yeah...it's called working until 830 PM.  I've been invited to a couple parties.  But doubt we'll be attending because some person has to work on New Year's Day too.  Gee...wonder who that could be. *ponders*
