Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel Review

I was brave enough to take four kids to the movies by myself on Sunday afternoon. I took my three plus my nephew.

I will say that Autumn and Hunter were wonderful helpers, I knew they would be and that's the only reason why I wanted to take them all. Ethan was bored before the previews even ended and was trying to run around for the first half hour of the movie. Then he fell asleep on my lap. He wasn't horrible, but he wasn't very well behaved either. My nephew, Wesley, who is the same age as Ethan (and the total opposite of my child) sat and ate popcorn and actually watched the movie.

So one of Ethan's favorite movies is Alvin And The Chipmunks. We've been seeing previews for the sequel squeakquel since before Christmas. Every time it would come on he'd start talking about the MEATMUNKS. That's how he says chipmunks...he's actually gotten better over the last few weeks and calls them chitmunks now. I like meatmunks though. They will forever be meatmunks.

So the movie...
Showcases The Chipettes...Eleanor (Amy Poehler), Jeanette (Anna Faris) nand Brittany (Christina Applegate). The Chipettes track down Ian (David Cross) because they want to be famous too. Ian and his money grubbing grubbiness takes advantage of the Chipettes. He only wants to make Britney famous, but the Chipette's won't be split up.

Meanwhile...Alvin (Justin Long), Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Theodore (Jesse McCartney) are in school and left in the care of a relative because Dave (Jason Lee) is hospitalized due to a mishap on stage at a Chipmunks concert. Ian enrolls the girls in the same school and it becomes a huge contest as to which group should be the school mascot or something like that.

In the end everything works out and the meatmunks Chipmunks and the Chipettes all hook up and make babies and live happily ever after.

Ok...that last part didn't happen.

I was a little bored with it. Obviously. I went to see this because my kids have been wanting to see it. And the child who I thought would enjoy it the most didn't care at all.

It was cute. It was funny. I just like the first one better.

Ethan loved these huge meatmunks that they had near the concession counter.

I haven't seen this movie yet-I'm not sure whether I want to or not, but it sounds like an interesting movie!
Thanks for the review.

My oldest son came up with the bright idea that I should take all of the kids to the theater to see this one. It took three attempts before we actually got to see it. Everybody and their dog in my town wanted to see it as well, and it was sold out almost every night that it was out.
After finally getting tickets and waiting in line for over an hour, we got to see the movie. My kids liked it. I, on the other hand, did not. I didn't care for the bullyish pranks.
Was it an okay movie? Yeah. Was it worth fighting tooth and nail to see? No.
