Klutz Glossy Bands Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

WINNERS!
#6 - Dwalline
#36 - sweetpea08
#69 - TheSharpTeethOfLove

What are Glossy Bands?

They're fun, colorful bracelets that you make yourself using acrylic gel. The non-toxic gel comes in squeezable bottles. You just squeeze the gel out on to the patterns provided in the book, swirl the colors with the swirl stick and let it dry (overnight!). Peel the Glossy Band off of the clear design band and it's wearable right away.

My daughter made several of these glossy bands. She made me a bracelet and an anklet to wear.  They're super stretchy and they shrink back to their original size.  When you first put it on you have to hold the ends together for a minute or two to ensure they stick together...but then it's done.  It doesn't come apart, at least the two I've been wearing haven't.  I didn't think that this gel would stick to itself, especially after drying all night.

The Glossy Bands book comes with four colors of the acrylic gel (pink, blue, green, purple)...the book has many templates for design patterns.  Easy to follow instructions.  One book/kit is enough to make 14 Glossy Bands.  And you can purchase refill kits of the gel so you can keep making Glossy Bands.

This short video shows you just how easy and fun it is to make these wearable pieces of art.

Monday Mayhem - I have standards damn it.

    Join Us for Monday Mayhem

Welcome to Monday Mayhem. This week's meme features random questions that make no sense. Simply answer the questions the best way that you want to. Have fun!

    1. What animal in your opinion is the stupidest animal alive?
    Kanye West
Oh...that's not what you meant?  Um...are spiders considered animals?  I think they're rather beastly...so they must be animals.  And they're stupid.

    2. What person in the news or spotlight makes you wonder how they got so far?
Oh my...don't get me started...eh, too late...
    Heidi Montag
    Lindsay Lohan
    Kate Gosselin
    Jon Gosselin

    3. If you could make up a new law and be in charge of arresting law breakers, what would that law be?
It should be against the law to have your job "outsourced" to another country.  Even though I hate that job...I still need it.

    4. Name something of the color blue that you despise.
Well um...I have some blue dishes...they're dirty right now.  So I'd say they're on my shitlist at the moment.

    5. If you were on your way somewhere and were running late and witnessed an accident, what would you do?
I would stop.  I'd feel too guilty for not stopping...even if there wasn't anything I could do to help, I'd still stop.

    6. How tall is too tall and how short is too short in your opinion?
If you're a guy and you're shorter than me...then it's too short.  And um...I guess if I have to jump to smack your forehead when you're being a dipshit, then that's too tall.

    7. What hair color and/eye color would you not want in someone you were planning on having children with?
I can't say I've ever really thought about this.  And I can't give an answer...the hair and the eyes don't make the person. But I would not be inclined to want to have kids with someone with a mullet and a glass eye.  One or the other is fine, but not both.  I have standards damn it.

    8. What hour of the day has the worst drivers?
I don't know.  But I do know that snow makes people suddenly forget how to drive.  People who've lived in Utah their entire lives...a snowflake falls and all of a sudden all common sense (when it comes to driving) is forgotten.  There's a word for people (Utahns) like that....U-tards.

    9. Are you following the Stanley Cup Finals?
    The what?  Is that hockey?

    10. If you wanted to eat lunch at the zoo and all they served were animal parts, would you eat them?
Um....no.  This is kind of disturbing to think about.

    11. Would you give, and if so how much, money to a 25 year old man holding a sign at an intersection that asks for money?
No.  And wait...how do I know he's 25 years old?  Does his sign say "I'm 25 and I want your money"?

    12. What do you do with emails that tell you to forward them on to 10 other people or something will happen to you?
Delete them and then sit and worry that Bill Gates might have really wanted to send me $200 or the man with the hook will kill me in my sleep or that Nieman Marcus will surely go bankrupt now that their prized cookie recipe has been released.  I've lost a lot of sleep over the years...

Covergirl Smoky ShadowBlast and ShineBlast Lip Gloss Review

Thanks to BzzAgent I was sent Covergirl's new Smoky Shadowblast eyeshadow and ShineBlast Lip Gloss to review.

So how do you get that cool smoky eye look without looking like a raccoon?
With Covergirl Smoky Shadowblast eyeshadow...that's how!

Two expertly matched colors give you the right look. And the easy, numbered tube makes it impossible to mess it up.

Use the rounded tip to apply the color over the entire lid and the angled tube to apply to the crease and lash line.

I chose Silver Sky ShadowBlast and it really is as easy to use as the above video shows. I chose to blend with a brush rather than my finger. The colors look great together.  I really like cream eyeshadow because they blend so easily.

My only complaint, and this is something I've experienced with every cream eyeshadow I've ever used...it collects in the crease on your eyelid.  But there is a solution!

I've found by using just a bit of loose powder or a powdered eyeshadow of the same (or similar) color can set your cream shadow so this doesn't happen.

Covergirl ShadowBlast eyeshadows are available in six color combinations.  There's an easy tool right on the Covergirl website that allows you to find your best color combinations.

I was also sent a tube of the Covergirl ShineBlast Lip Gloss to review.  Now I'm not a lipstick/lip color kind of person for the most part.  Why?  Because I have big lips and feel like a clown when I wear lip color.  So I like balms and sheer glosses best.

I received the ShineBlast Lip Gloss in Aglow and it is the perfect amount of color and shine.  It glides on smoothly with the the ShineSculpt applicator.  The curved applicator and tapered tip hugs the curves or your lips and gives precise shaping and even coverage.

I like the color and the consistency of the gloss.  It's not gummy or sticky...but I have to reapply it more often than I'd like.

Covergirl ShineBlast Lip Gloss is available in 16 shimmery shades.

Much thanks to BzzAgent on behalf of Covergirl for the review items.

      Kick Ass - Movie Review

Dave is your standard unpopular high school kid.  He has two close friends, lives with his dad and likes to read comic books.  He asks his friends if they've ever thought of being a superhero...no they hadn't.

But Dave goes home and starts planning to become a superhero.  Buys himself a ridiculous costume and dubs himself Kick Ass.  After a video of him ends up on YouTube he becomes an overnight superstar.

He gets mixed up in some business that he really has no business being involved in.  And in turn meets other superheroes...Big Daddy, Hit Girl and Red Mist.  I'm not a fan of Nicolas Cage (he plays Big Daddy)...his role is pretty limited and he wears a mask for the most part, so it was tolerable. LOL

So um...he gets the girl, saves the day and yada, yada, yada.   It was pretty predictable.

It was an ok movie.  Kind of silly but entertaining none the less.  If you like Superbad (McLovin!) or those kinds of movies then you'll like it ok.   This was really a last resort for us as there hasn't been anything we've wanted to see the last few weeks.  But we were desperate to get out of the house....so Kick Ass it was.  We had fun.  We laughed.

No compensation was received for this review. I just like going to the movies and telling everyone about it. I tell you when I like the flick and I tell you when I hate it. My opinion, that's it.

      1. Make a list of 5 things you can see without getting up.
      1. Diet Dr. Pepper
      2. Blackberry
      3. Jeff Gordon pillow (not mine!)
      4. The DVD "UHF"
      5. Spiderman
      2. How do you style your hair? How often do you cut it?
      I have a mullet.

      3. What are you wearing now?
go-go boots, pasties and a tutu...and my mullet

      4. What's your occupation? Do you like it?
I'm a call center slave.  And NO.

      5. When was the last time that you took a nap? Was there a special reason?
Today.  Does being so fucking hungover that I can't even breathe without getting nauseated count as a special reason?

      6. Who was the last person you hugged romantically?
      That would be Dennis.

      8. What was the last full meal that you ate?
I just ate a grilled cheese sandwich.  I'm still trying to decide if my stomach is going to let it stay there.

      9. What was the last email that you received?
I don't know...I'm not doing email right now.

      10. What one website do you always visit when you go online?
      Facebook

      11. What was the last significant thing you bought?
Um...tickets to see Korn next Saturday.  That's pretty significant.

      12. What musical artist did you not get at first, but then became a fan?
      Hhmmm I dunno...

But you know which bands I have a hard time grasping why people like so much?

      • Coldplay
      • Dave Matthews Band
They just don't do anything for me.

      13. What do you think about before you go to bed last night?
Am I going to puke again? Please don't let me puke again.

      14. What was the last CD you bought?
      Katy Perry...like 2 years ago.

      15. What is your favorite weather, and why? What's the weather like today?
Warm, not hot.  Sunny.  And it's overcast today...

      16. If you could have a special artistic talent, what would it be?
      Um...sing? I guess.

      17. Did you watch the Idol 9 finale? If yes, what are your thoughts?
I did.  This is the only season that I haven't watched every week.  I liked Crystal from the auditions but was never really big on anyone else.  I watched the last three weeks.  On finale night I was totally sitting there thinking in my head "Crystal. Crystal. Crystal"....but then they announced Lee as the winner and I wasn't disappointed.  I liked them both.  And Crystal will do better without the Idol contract.

      18. What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?
      Go shit in your hand.

      19. Any special plans for this (holiday in the States) weekend?
I'm going to see Sex and the City 2.  That's the only thing I have planned.

      20. Besides your current S/O, who was the last person that you loved romantically?
My ex-husband.  Do we have to talk about him?

Saturday 9 - Overly excited about selling you crappy kitchen gadgets

      Saturday 9: Midnight Confessions

      1. Have you ever had to confess something to a lover or friend?
I made a confession on my blog a few weeks ago.

      2. How well do you handle rejection?
I don't.  Kick 'em in the shin, shout "I hate you!" and run away crying.

      3. What makes you feel old?
Seeing signs at liquor stores and bars that you must be born in the year 1989 (or before) to purchase alcohol.

      4. What makes you feel young?
      My kids....and alcohol.

      5. What’s something you are old school about?
Um...I dunno.  I kind of have an obsession with 80's glam rock.  But who doesn't?  Oh, not you?  Oh.

      6. What TV show's seasons would you buy on DVD? Tell us why it rocks.
Roseanne.  Cuz she's a cranky bitch and I love it.

      7. If you could create your own TV channel, what would it be?
An infomercial channel.  And I am so fucking serious.  The BFF and I love infomercials (love is a serious understatement).  I would love to host an infomercial.  I would love to sell you all crappy kitchen gadgets...and be overly excited about it. I'd wear an ugly sweater and have a bad hairdo and everything.

      8. Where do you like to go for a day trip?
Wendover.  It's a casino town on the Utah/Nevada border.

      9. Name some things that you still want to do in your life.
Well there's that whole infomercial dream...

Bitch & Moan - Mother Nature Needs A Midol

      Fairy Blog Mother

Yay for holiday weekends! Unless you have to work...but I won't gripe too much. I only have to work on Sunday. And I'll be off on Monday and Tuesday. I'm still kind of in shock that I'll have two days off in a row.

So let's talk about the weather....

Utah weather is so FUCKED UP. On Monday...we had snow. SNOW...in May. And Tuesday, it was almost 70 degrees. I think Mother Nature needs to quit with the mood swings and just be normal for a while.

And to add more gripe to the weather bullshit...
It's supposed to rain tomorrow. Again.
And...I'm attending an outdoor concert (Foreigner/Styx/Kansas). That'll be a bowl full of awesome (stole this line from the BFF) I'm sure.

And then there's this whole job thing:

A customer calls in and says he's going to sue our company in small claims court because we won't allow him to cash his check and now he has to pay $65 to get it cashed at one of those payday loan type places. (this is my problem, how?)

I literally laughed at him...he's going to sue us over $65? Something that won't stand up in court anyway because first off, Walmart is not a bank...second, he doesn't have a bank account anywhere else. So he's DEPENDING on Walmart to cash his check for him. How in the hell can he afford to sue us if he doesn't even have a bank account to cash his measly check. (He also threw in the whole "well, I'm out of gas" line)

Another customer...had partially paid off the balance of a $2500.00 returned check in our system. Yes, he bounced a check for $2500.00. He thought because he had paid off X amount that he could go out and write another check as long as he didn't go over the amount he had paid back to us already.

Um hello...paging Mr. Dumbass...You wrote a bad check to us and now you want us to accept another check from you?  You haven't even paid off the first one.  Idiot.

What's funny...he couldn't understand why would not take another check. We argued for almost 30 minutes about this and he just didn't get it.

So what pissed you off this week?

Sex and the City 2 - Movie Soundtrack Review

      Big day tomorrow!
Sex and the City 2 is being released in theaters and I am so freakin' excited!  I plan on seeing it sometime this weekend.

I think I've seen every episode of SATC...at least twice. And I've seen the movie several times as well.

I was given the opportunity to review the soundtrack for the new movie thanks to One2One Network. And for all of you SATC fans out there you can enter to win a phone call from Sarah Jessica Parker!

The soundtrack features the Helen Reddy song "I Am Woman" performed by Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Kim Cattrall (Samantha), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte).

I sat there listening really hard trying to see if I could make out whose voice was whose.  I wasn't able to...pretty cool song though.  Can't say I've ever heard it before though.

12-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys performs her own version of the Blondie classic “Rapture”.  This was by far my favorite song on the soundtrack.  I love the original version but Alicia Keys puts a new twist on it...very, very cool.

Grammy, Emmy, Golden Globe, Tony and Academy Award® winner Liza Minnelli covers Beyonce’s chart-topper “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”.  This was a little kooky for me.  I'm still deciding if I like it or not.  Maybe I need to see the film to be able to place Liza Minelli singing this.

All of the songs performed by the Sex and the City Men's Choir...well, I made it about halfway through each song before I switched to the next song.  They just weren't doing anything for me.

Overall I did liked the entire soundtrack with the exception of those Men's Choir songs.

      1. Alicia Keys “Rapture”
      2. Dido “Everything to Lose”
      3. Cee Lo “Language of Love”
      4. Erykah Badu “Window Seat”
      5. Natacha Atlas “Kidda”
      6. Michael McGregor “Euphrates Dream”
      7. Liza Minnelli “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”
      8. Ricki-Lee "Can't Touch It"
      9. Alicia Keys "Emire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down"
      10. Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis "Love Is Your Color"
      11. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon “I Am Woman”
      12. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “If Ever I Would Leave You”
      13. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “Sunrise, Sunset”
      14. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “Till There Was You”
      15. Shayna Steele, Jordan Ballard, Kamilah Marshall “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered”
      16. Liza Minnelli with Billy Stritch “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye”
      17. Cyndi Lauper “True Colors”
      18. Aaron Zigman “Divas and Dunes”

The Sex and the City 2 soundtrack went on sale May 25 and is available for purchase on Amazon

Much thanks to the One2One Network for this review opportunity.

Get Carrie'd away with TJ Maxx - Review

So is anyone else as excited for the release of Sex and the City 2 as I am?  I mean...this is better than Twilight....er that one really popular vampire flick.

Sex and the City 2 is being released in theaters Friday, May 27th (tomorrow!) and it's on my agenda to get out and see it sometime this weekend.  You all know I go to the movies several times per month anyway...the only thing with this flick...I'll be seeing it with hubby and not the BFF (my regular movie date).  I've tried to convince her to watch this series.  She has no idea who Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte are.  And forget Mr. Big, Aiden and Steve...man, she's missing out.

Thanks to Rocket XL I was able to go and and do a little shopping in honor of the the movie release.

My first experience with shopping at TJ Maxx was that it seemed unorganized.  And it's not super close to my house so I never went out of my way to shop there.

I decided the best thing to do would be to shop without any of my kids in tow.  And I found the experience to be a lot more fun than I remember.  In fact, I probably went through the entire store about eight times...I went to the dressing room twice.  And even then I was still contemplating the items I really wanted to buy.  My cart was full...really full.

TJ Maxx offers affordable designer and name brand clothing...their clearance racks are AWESOME.  According to the store clerk they get new shipments in four times a week (at this store I was at, this may not apply to all stores) so the items are always changing and things are always being marked down.  And that was the whole idea for me going shopping...to find a deal, a Sex and the City inspired style...at a TJ Maxx price.

My mistake: try on everything you buy...unless you really know your size.  I thought I knew my size and after two trips to the dressing room with at least 10 items per time...I still managed to forget to try on the pants that I initially bought...and had to return five days later.  The second time around I took the BFF with me and we had a lot of fun.

Now I didn't buy myself any sky high heels...though we had fun trying them on...on one foot only.  As we needed that other foot flat on the ground while we held on to the nearest clothing rack to balance ourselves.  I can't even imagine trying to walk in them.

So even though they're not my style (well actually, I'd love to be able to wear shoes like that...but I like my teeth and would like to keep all of them) I know these are something that Carrie would probably wear...but she'd pay several hundred dollars for something like this.  At TJ Maxx....$40.

We browsed and oooh'd and ahhh'd (and made fun of) a lot of things.  We tried on silly hats, ogled the purses and squealed over the cute baby clothes.  The BFF just had a baby in January so we were looking at all the cutesy girly stuff...I so wanted her to buy this (it was only $9!):

When you're under the age of 7 you can get away with wearing stuff like this.  So even the little girls can look like diva's if you're shopping TJ Maxx.

And in case you didn't know...TJ Maxx sells more than clothing.  They sell just about everything.  They had garden items, toys, bedding, kitchen items and decor.

And for those of you who have a little Samantha in you...well they sell these too.

      (the underwear you dirty birdies!)

In the end this is what I ended up with
      • 1 pair of Polo shorts (for Dennis) - $10 (not shown)
      • 1 pair of capri pants - $16 (which I later returned, didn't find anything to exchange so I guess I have to go back!)
      • 2 tube top shirts - $10 each

My overall opinion of TJ Maxx now:
It's the bomb diggity (yep, I just said "bomb diggity").  But it's not some place I'd want to go shopping with my kids.  It's not the kind of store where you can run in and grab something.  You have to have TIME to search those racks, dig through those clearance items and grab those deals.

Weekly Worth A Listen - The Truffle Shuffle

All you have to do is post the first ten songs that play when you put your iPod/iTunes/Window Media Player, etc. on shuffle.  Easy!

Honestly, I haven't touched my mp3 player in months.  But I turned it on and shuffled just so I could participate this week.

Insane Clown Posse - Cherry Pie

      LMFAO - Yes

      Shwayze - Corona and Lime

      Otep - Rise, Rebel, Resist

      Nitty - Nasty Girl

      The Runaways - Cherry Bomb

      Powerman 5000 - Nobody's Real

Trick Daddy - Sugar On My Tongue

Tenacious D - Dude, I Totally Miss You

Samantha Ronson - Pull My Hair Out
